    THIS SEASON: Hayley McGregory, who transferred from Texas to USC in 2006, quickly established herself as one of Troy's top swimmers last year and should be among the NCAA's top backstrokers as a junior in 2007. She owns USC's 100y backstroke record (breaking it five times in 2006), the 100m back mark and parts of two relay records.

    2006: McGregory was a two-time All-American as a 2006 sophomore, swimming the leadoff backstroke leg on Troy's second-place and school-record setting 400y medley relay and taking sixth in the 100y back (53.54). In the latter event, she broke her own school record in prelims with a 53.48 ... She also was 17th in the 200y back (1:58.11) and swam on USC's 400y and 800y free relays ... At the 2006 Pac-10 Championships, she posted a pair of second-place finishes in the 100y back (53.73) and the 200y back (1:55.77) and swam the lead-off leg on USC's Pac-10-winning 400y medley relay, Troy's second women's conference relay title ... At the 2006 U.S. Spring Nationals, she set a USC record en route to finishing fourth in the 100m back (1:03.36) .. During the 2006 U.S. Summer Nationals, she raced in the 100m back again, taking 15th, as well as in the 200m back.

    TEXAS: McGregory was a two-time All-American as a freshman at Texas, swimming the lead-off leg on the Longhorns' second-place 200y medley relay and fifth-place 400y medley relay. She was also a two-time consolation finalist, taking ninth in the 100y back (53.63) and 13th in the 200y back (1:56.67) ... At the 2005 Big 12 Championships, McGregory won the conference title in the 100y back (53.97) and was second in the 200y back (1:56.39). She was also part of Texas's first-place 400y medley relay.

    HIGH SCHOOL: McGregory prepped at Bowie High in Houston, Texas, where she was one of the top high school backstrokers ... She placed third in the 100m and 200m backstrokes at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials before capturing titles in both events at the 2004 U.S. Summer Nationals ... She was a two-time Texas state champion in the 100y free and 100y back and was named the 2001 state of Texas Athlete of the Year.
