THIS SEASON: A talented breaststroker who is also strong in the IM now in the freestyle as well, 2002 senior Kristin MacGregor is an NCAA All-American candidate and is invaluable on USC’s relays. MacGregor is a nine-time career All-American and is the school record holder in the 100y breast (1:00.66), the 100m breast (1:07.99) and the 100m free (56.85, sc). She also is part of four relay records.

2001: MacGregor was a three-time All-American as a 2001 junior, taking eighth in the 200y IM (2:00.00) and helping the 400y medley and 200y medley relays to seventh and eighth-place finishes, respectively. MacGregor was also 18th in the 100y breast. She swam on all five of USC’s NCAA relays ... At the 2001 Pacific-10 Championships, MacGregor finalled in the 100y breast, taking sixth (1:03.19). She was also ninth in the 200 IM (2:01.95) and 13th in the 200 breast (2:19.25) ... MacGregor earned 2001 Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention honors for the second consecutive year.

2000: MacGregor was USC’s most decorated swimmer at the 2000 NCAAs, earning three All-American honors. She was fourth in the 200m IM (2:12.56, sc), tied for sixth in the 100m breast (1:08.25, sc) and was 13th in the 200m breast (2:30.14, sc). She also helped USC to its eighth-place mark in the 400m medley relay. In addition she competed on USC’s 14th-place 400m free relay. At the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials, MacGregor was 34th in the 100m breast (1:12.78) and 61st in the 200m free (2:06.42) ... At the 2000 Pac-10s, MacGregor was second in the 100y breast (1:01.17), third in the 200y IM (1:59.96) and fourth in the 200y breast (2:14.59) ... She earned 2000 Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention honors. At the 2000 team banquet, she was given the Coaches Recognition Award.

1999: MacGregor put together a fabulous freshman campaign in 1999, posting three All-American honors and three USC records. At the 1999 NCAAs, MacGregor’s efforts were highlighted by her third-place finish in the 100y breast (1:00.67) and the fifth-place 400y medley and seventh-place 200y medley relays with which she competed. MacGregor also took 10th in the 200y IM (1:59.72) and 12th in the 200y breast in 2:13.51. Her time of 1:00.66 in the prelims of the 100y breast set a school record and the 400y medley relay’s prelim time of 3:36.53 did the same ... Her other school record came as part of USC’s 400m medley relay (4:14.30) at the U.S. Spring Nationals ... MacGregor also set a pair of McDonald’s Stadium Pool records as a freshman. The first came as part of the 400y medley relay (3:40.98) against Arizona on Nov. 13, 1998, and the second was in the 100y breast (1:02.19) against Arizona State the next day. MacGregor was a three-time finalist at the 1999 Pac-10s, taking second in the 100y breast (1:01.57), fourth in the 200y breast (2:14.64) and fifth in the 200y IM (2:01.78) ... At the 1999 U.S. Spring Nationals, MacGregor was fourth in the 100m breast (1:10.85) ... At the 1998 Fina World Cup meet at Texas A&M, MacGregor won both the 50m (31.92, SC) and the 100m breast (1:08.75, SC) ... At the 1998 U.S. Open, MacGregor took third in the 100m breast (1:09.06, SC). She finished the season with USC’s top times in the 100 breast (1:00.66), 200 breast (2:13.51) and the 200 IM (1:59.72).

HIGH SCHOOL: MacGregor prepped at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Ill. ... As a junior, she earned a spot on the U.S. contingent at the 1997 Pan-Pacific Championships in Japan where she took 11th in the 100m breast ... She finalled in three events at the 1997 U.S. Open, taking third in the 100m breast (1:11.37), sixth in the 200m IM (2:20.27) and seventh in the 200m breast (2:36.56) ... MacGregor won the 100m breast title at the 1996 U.S. Open in a meet-record time of 1:08.31 and finished second in the 200m breast (2:31.00) ... MacGregor is the 17-18 U.S. age group record-holder in the 100y breast (1:00.91) ... At the 1998 U.S. Spring Nationals, she took fifth in the 100m breast (1:11.15) and 20th in both the 200m breast (2:37.63) and 200m IM (2:21.28). She won the 200m breast at the 1994 Olympic Festival.
