THIS SEASON: A 2000-2001 senior, Alexis Lyon is again healthy and will look to make her third NCAA appearance in her career at USC. She is a big contributor to USC's free corps and can be valuable on relays.
1999-2000: As a 1999-2000 junior, Lyon competed in three events at the 2000 Pac-10 Championships despite fighting through injuries. She was 30th in the 200y free (1:53.95), 32nd in the 50y free (24.79) and 33rd in the 100y free (53.58). She was a 2000 Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention selection.
1998-99: For the second consecutive season, Lyon earned a trip to the NCAA Championships as a 1998-99 sophomore. She swam on USC's ninth-place 800y free relay squad and took 35th in the 200y free (1:49.90). At the 1999 Pac-10 Championships, Lyon finished 15th in the 500y free (4:58.93), 18th in the 200y free (1:49.75) and 21st in the 100y free (52.34). Lyon was a member of two national-championship relays at the 1999 U.S. Spring Nationals, swimming on both of USC's first-place squads in the 400y free and 400y medley relays, the latter setting a school record (4:14.30). At the 1998 U.S. Open, Lyon competed in the 100m, 200m and the 400m free. Lyon earned 1999 Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention honors with a 3.18 GPA in communications.
1997-98: Lyon, a freshman in 1997-98, came on strong toward the end of the season and earned a trip to the 1998 NCAA Championships, where she swam on USC's 11th-place 800y free relay. At the 1998 Pac-10 Championships, Lyon finished 13th in the 500y free and 16th in the 200y free and also competed on USC's third-place 800y free relay.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lyon prepped at Miramonte High in Orinda, Calif. She was an All-American in the 100y and 200y free and was the CIF Northcoast Section 100y free champion as a junior and senior. She was also a member of Miramonte's Northcoast record-setting 400y free relay team.
PERSONAL: Lyon celebrates the same birthday as her mom, May 6, 1979. She is a communications major. She enjoys skiing and travelling. Alexis' uncle, Steve Kantola, played quarterback at Oregon.
