THIS SEASON: Lynette Lim, a 2013 junior, is a talented distance freestyler with international experience who looks to build off her All-American debut last year as a sophomore as well as her second Olympic appearance while representing Singapore. Able to provide dual-meet punch and post-season scoring, she is eyeing her first NCAA individual scoring effort this year. 2012: Lim earned a pair of All-American honors on relays at the 2012 NCAA Championships as a sophomore, helping USC to fourth in the 800y free relay and to eighth in the 400y free relay. Individually, she was 26th in the 200y free (1:45.98) and 32nd in the 500y free (4:44.53) ... Showing improvement from her freshman year, Lim posted her first two top 8 finishes at the Pac-12. She was sixth in the 1650y free (16:32.49) and eighth in the 500y free (4:47.32) and won the consolation final of the 200y free for ninth (1:46.05) ... One of USC's top student-athletes, Lim earned 2012 CSCAA Scholar All-America first team honors and was a 2012 Pac-12 All-Academic second teamer ...Lim represented Singapore at the 2012 Olympics, finishing 30th in the 400m free and 31st in the 800m free ... At the 2012 U.S. Winter Nationals, Lim was 10th in the 500y free (4:43.53) and 14th in the 200y free (1:46.77). She also swam on Troy's winning 800y free relay. 2011: Lim was a three-time `B' finalist at the 2011 Pac-10 Championships as a freshman, taking 13th in both the 200y (1:48.00) and 500y free (4:46.69) and 14th in the 1650y free (16:47.49). HIGH SCHOOL: Lim was a four-time prep All-American and two-time prep MVP at Palm Springs (Calif.) High, where she was a five-time CIF champion and the Riverside Press-Enterprise (2008) and Desert Sun Swimmer of the Year (2008, 2009) and ranked second academically in her class of 500 ... Swam in three events for Singapore at the 2008 Olympics (200m, 400m and 800m free). She was 30th in the 400m and 800m free and 36th in the 200m. Her 800m time in Beijing of 8:45.56 set a then-Singapore national record. She also represented Singapore at the 2007 and 2009 World Championships in the 400m, 800 and 1500m free and the 200m fly and at the 2007 FINA World Championships in the 200m fly and 400m free. At the 2009 Asian Youth Games, she won the 400m free. At the 2009 Southeast Asian Games, Lim won the 800m free (8:35:41) and won silver in the 400m free (4:11), setting personal bests in both. The 800m free time set a Southeast Asian Games record ... She has set 44 Singapore national records and has 19 USA Swimming National Top 16 awards ... Was a 2009 and 2009 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and earned various academic honors, including 2008 and 2009 AP Scholar with Distinction. CLUB: Palm Springs Piranhas/Adam Schmitt.
