THIS SEASON: Andrea Kropp, a 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials finalist in the 200m breast, looks to build on her 2013 All-American debut for the Trojans as a 2014 junior. She is one of the NCAA's top breaststrokers over 200 yards and is improving over 100 and is strong in the 200y IM as well.
2013: Kropp earned All-American honors in her first year at USC as a 2013 sophomore, taking seventh in the 200y breast (2:07.62) at the NCAA Championships. She was also 12th in the 200y IM (1:57.15, PR) and 18th in the 100y breast (1:00.28, PR) ... She was a three-time finalist at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships, taking fourth in the 200y breast (2:08.68), seventh in the 100y breast (1:00.75) and eighth in the 200y IM (1:58.82). She set a PR in the prelims of the 100y breast (1:00.58) ... At the 2013 U.S. Summer Nationals, Kropp was sixth in the 200m breast (2:28.60), took second in the `B' final of the 400m IM (4:46.13) and was sixth in the `B' final of the 100m breast (1:10.04) ... Kropp represented the U.S. at the 2013 World University Games and reached the finals of the 200m breast, finishing eighth (2:29.29). She went 2:27.35 in the semifinals ... She was a four-time finalist at the 2012 U.S. Winter Nationals, finished second in the 200y breast (2:07.62, PR), sixth in the 400y IM (4:12.21, PR), seventh in the 200y IM (1:57.30) and eighth in the 100y breast (1:01.30) ... Kropp competed at the 2012 FINA Short Course World Championships in December and reached the final of the 200m breast, finishing fifth (2:20.08).
2012: Kropp redshirted in 2012 after transferring from Princeton, but had great success at the national and international level during the rest of the calendar year ... She was one spot away from making the 2012 U.S. Olympic team, finishing third in the 200m breast final in 2:24.82. She was also third after prelims and the semifinals, turning in PRs in each swim. Kropp was also a semifinalist in the 200m IM (10th, 2:14.44) and the 100m breast (11th, 1:08.69) and took 13th in the 400m IM (4:45.77) ... Kropp later finished second in the 200m breast at the 2012 U.S. Open in 2:25.40, earning a spot on the 2013 U.S. World University Games squad. She was also seventh in the 100m breast and 10th in the 200m IM ... Kropp was a four-time finalist at the 2012 U.S. Winter Nationals, finished second in the 200y breast (2:07.62), sixth in the 400y IM (4:12.21), seventh in the 200y IM (1:57.30) and eighth in the 100y breast (1:01.30) ... PRINCETON: As a freshman at Princeton last season, she won 2011 Ivy League titles in the 100y and 200y breast, helping the Tigers to a team championship. She tied for fourth in the 200y IM and set school records in both breast events ... Before becoming a Trojan, Kropp took sixth in both the 400m IM (4:47.69) and 200m breast (2:27.27) and was second in the `B' final of the 100m breast and fifth in the `B' final of the 200m IM at the 2011 U.S. Winter Nationals.
HIGH SCHOOL: She prepped at Flintridge Sacred Heart in La Canada Flintridge, Calif., where she was a nine-time prep All-American. In 2010, she was fifth in the 200m breast at the 2010 U.S. Nationals and reached the bonus final of the 100m breast. She won the 200m breast at the 2010 Junior Nationals. She was also a two-time All-State and All-CIF honoree in cross country ... She holds Southern California age group records in 400 IM (11-12), 200 breast (11-12) and 100 breast (15-16) ... She holds four school records at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy: 50y free, 100y fly, 100y breast and 200y IM.
