    THIS SEASON: Kalyn Keller, a 2004 Olympic finalist and one of America's top distance and open water freestylers, is a 2007 senior who will challenge for NCAA titles in the 500y and 1650y free. Keller, also a member of the U.S. 2006-07 Open Water national team, holds seven USC individual and two relay records.

    2006: Keller's biggest highlights as a 2006 junior came after the NCAA season, when the distance stalwart finished second in the women's 10k at the 2006 U.S. Open Water National Championships in June. Her time of 2:00.22 was two seconds off the winning time. That swim qualified her for the 2006 Pan Pacific Championships, where she also won silver, this time in 2:04.29 ... At the 2006 NCAA Championships, Keller was ninth in the 500y free (4:43.19) and 24th in the 1650y free (16:34.24). She also raced in the 400y IM and the 800y free relay ... At the Pac-10 Championships, Keller won her fourth career conference crown and second in the 500y free (4:41.89). She was also second in the 1650y free (16:25.97) and sixth in the 200y fly (2:00.47) ... At the 2006 U.S. Spring Nationals, she was fourth in the 800m free (8:44.18) and sixth in the 400m free (4:18.69) and also raced in the 200m free and 200m fly ... At the 2006 U.S. Summer Nationals, Keller was 11th in the 400m free, 13th in the 800m free and swam in the 200m free.

    2005: Keller earned All-American honors as part of the 800y free relay and was a Pac-10 Championships title winner as a sophomore in 2005. Keller anchored USC's 800y free relay team that finished eighth. She also was 10th in the 500y free (4:43.47) and 24th in the 1650y free (16:29.81) ... She successfully defended her 2004 crown in the 1650y free at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships (16:12.80) and was fourth in the 500y free (4:43.23).

    2004: Keller had a huge first 12 months as a Trojan, winning an NCAA title as a freshman before competing in two events at the 2004 Olympics. The younger sister of Olympian and former Trojan NCAA title-winner Klete Keller, Keller was among the top freshmen in the nation in 2004. She set the American, NCAA and USC record in winning the 1500m freestyle (scm) at the NCAA Championships in 15:49.14. She also took second in the 400m free in a USC record of 4:02.21 (scm), less than second from first place ... At the 2004 Pac-10 Championships, Keller won titles in the 500y free (4:37.76) and the 1650y free (15:48.99), setting USC and Pac-10 meet records in the process. Her time of 9:34.72 in the first 1000 yards of the mile also set a school record. Keller, who led off USC's second-place 800y free relay, also swam in the final of the 200y fly (not long after winning the 1650y free) and took eighth ... At the 2004 Olympics, Keller was fourth in the 800m free (8:26.97), barely finishing out of the medals, and was 10th in the 400m free (4:09.83) ... At the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials, Keller was second in both the 400m and 800m free.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Keller prepped at Arcadia High in Phoenix, Ariz. She won four titles at the 2003 U.S. Summer Nationals. Individually, she won the 400m free (4:10.68), 800m free (8:31.54) and the 1500m free (16:08.64) and she also swam on the Trojan Club's victorious 800m free relay ... At the 2003 U.S. Spring Nationals, she was fourth in the 800m free (8:38.39) and 14th in the 400m free (4:16.77) ... A U.S. national team member, she competed at the 2002 Short Course World Championships, finishing fifth in both the 400m and the 800m free ... She won the 800m free at the 2001 U.S. Summer Nationals and took third in the 400m free and sixth in the 200m fly at the same event ... At the 2001 U.S. Spring Nationals, she was third in the 400m free, sixth in the 1500m free and seventh in the 200m free. She also competed for the 2001 U.S. Goodwill Games team ... She won a silver at the 2001 Open Water World Championships in the 5K and is a two-time national champion in that event.

    PERSONAL: She was born on April 3, 1985 ... She is a psychology major ... Her older brother, Klete, was a four-time NCAA champion during two seasons at USC (2001-02), winning three individual titles and one relay. He is also a two-time Olympian. Her older sister, Kelsey, swam at Washington and her mother swam at Arizona State ... She has a dog named Xena.
