THIS SEASON: Presley Bard, a 2011 senior co-captain in her second year at USC after transferring from Indiana, is one of the nation's top backstrokers who is also strong as a sprint freestyler. Bard, a U.S. national team member in the 100m back, is a valuable member of USC's relays and owns four individual school records and two relay records. At the 2010 Short Course Nationals in December, Bard won a title in the 100y back and in the 200y free and 400y medley relays.
2010: Bard was a four-time All-American as a 2010 junior, finishing third in the 100y back (51.89) and fourth in the 200y back (1:51.82) at the NCAA Championships. She also led off USC's sixth-place 400y medley relay, breaking her school record with a leadoff 100y back of 51.71, and swam second on USC's seventh-place 800y free relay. Bard was also 12th in the 50y free (22.41) ... At the 2010 Pac-10 Championships, Bard won USC's first ever Pac-10 title in the 100y back (51.92), was second in the 200y back (1:51.80) and third in the 50y free (22.15). All were school records. Her third in the 50y free was USC's highest finish since Karen Campbell was second in 1999. Bard also led off USC's Pac-10-title winning and school-record setting 800y free relay and broke the school record in the 200y free with her opening 1:44.47 ... At the 2010 U.S. Summer Nationals, Bard was fifth in the 100m back.
2009: Bard redshirted in 2008-09 after transferring from Indiana.
INDIANA: As a sophomore at Indiana in 2008, she earned All-American honors by finishing sixth in the 100y back at the NCAA Championships and helping the Hoosiers to the finals in the 200y and 400y medley relays ... She was second in the 100y back at the 2008 Big Ten Championships and anchored Indiana's first-place 200y medley relay ... After the season, she was fifth in the 200m back at the Olympic Trials ... As a freshman at the 2007 NCAA Championships, she was ninth in the 200y back. She was the 2007 Big Ten Freshman of the Year after winning conference titles in the 200y back and the 400y medley relay.
HIGH SCHOOL: Bard was a four-time All-American for Napa (Calif.) High and set five school records with the Indians in her two years competing in high school. As a member of the Terrapins club team, she was a senior nationals qualifier in the back events in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
