THIS SEASON: Andrea Basaraba, a 2014 redshirt junior, is an improving middle-to-distance freestyler. A Serbian national record holder, she looks to become a bigger contributor as she grows in the program.
2013: As a 2013 redshirt sophomore, Basaraba was 15th in the 1650y free at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships (16:41.74) and 29th in the 500y free (4:52.36). Her 16:31.75 at the U.S. Winter Nationals was Troy's second-fastest time in the race last season ... She was named to the 2013 Pac-12 All-Academic first team.
2012: Basaraba redshirted in 2012 ... She resumed competing after the NCAA season and swam at the 2012 U.S. Winter Nationals, where she was eighth in the 1650y free (16:31.75) and was sixth in the `C' final of the 500y free (4:49.47).
2011: Basaraba competed in three events at the 2011 Pac-10 Championships as a freshman, taking 26th in the 200y free (1:50.33), 27th in the 200y back (1:59.63) and 34th in the 500y free (4:58.16).
HIGH SCHOOL: Basaraba was a prep All-American at The Bishops School in La Jolla, Calif. She was a 2010 Division II CIF San Diego Championships winner in the 100y free ... At the 2009 Division II CIF San Diego Championships, she was second in the 200y free and the 100y back ... She has been part of the Serbian national team since 2007 and holds Serbian national records in the 400m, 800m, 1500m free, the 200m back and the 200m IM ... She competed at the 2010 European Junior Championships, where she was sixth in the 200y back, and was also a 2010 Mediterranean Games finalist.

PERSONAL: Basaraba was born in Belgrade, Serbia, on Sept. 1, 1993 ... She is studying philosophy, politics and law at USC and hopes to become a lawyer ... Was an Honor Roll member all four years in high school, graduated Cum Laude, and was a 2009 and 2010 First Union Tribune All-Academic Team member.
