    USC Women's Swimming Beats Cal, 195-107 As Quance Sets School Record

    BERKELEY, Calif - Senior Kristine Quance won three races and set a new USC record in the 200 fly, leading the No. 4 USC women's swimming team to a 195-107 victory over host California in Berkeley, Calif. on Friday.

    USC improved to 7-0 overall, 3-0 in the Pacific-10 Conference.

    Quance, the NCAA Swimmer of the Year as a junior in 1996, won the 200 fly in 1:57.78, bettering the school record set by Michelle Ford of 1:58.76 set in 1982. Quance also won the 500 free in the 4:55.37 and took the 200 IM in 2:03.39.

    Sophomore Lindsay Benko took two events for the Women of Troy, winning the 100 back in 57.50 and the 200 back in 2:02.47. Also winning for USC was freshman Jamie Johnson in the 1,000 free (10:06.21), freshman Paige Francis in the 200 free (1:52.01), sophomore Karen Campbell in the 100 free (51.83) and junior Sarah Maggio in the 200 breast (2:21.59).

    USC next takes on host Stanford on Saturday, Feb. 1 at noon.
