USC Men's and Women's Swimming Defeat Texas A&M, Nebraska in Dual Meets
LOS ANGELES -- The No. 3 USC women's swimming team and the No. 7 men's team swept Texas A&M and Nebraska in dual meet action at the USC McDonald's Swim Stadium today. Also, Nebraska defeated Texas A&M in both men's and women's action.
The Women of Troy improved to 5-0 with their 233-67 win over the No. 25 Aggies (5-3) and 213-87 win over the No. 16 Cornhuskers (3-2). The Trojans, who improved to 4-0, defeated Texas A&M (6-2), 226-72, and beat No. 15 Nebraska (5-2), 167.50-132.50. Nebraska defeated Texas A&M in women's 181-119, and in men's 207-93.
The Women of Troy were led by senior Kristine Quance, who won both the 100 and 200 breast, and sophomore Karen Campbell, who took the 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 free.
The Trojans were led by senior Jeff Julian, who won the 200 fly, 500 free and tied for first in the 200 free.
Leading the Cornhuskers were junior Alex Shiefman, who won the 100 back and took third in the 50 free, freshman Beth Karaica, who won the 50 free and took second in the 100 free, and senior Juan Benavides, who won the 50 free and took second in the 100 free.
Highlighting Texas A&M's efforts was junior Stacie Karnes, who won the 200 free.
