Kessy-Ross Fall In Olympics Final To Walsh Jennings-May Treanor|

Former Trojans Jennifer Kessy and April Ross took home silver medals in the 2012 London Olympics beach volleyball competition after a 21-16, 21-16 loss in the final to fellow Americans Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor on Wednesday (Aug. 8).
It was the third consecutive Olympic gold medal for the American veterans, who won their 21st straight Olympic match and whose partnership is ending with the upcoming retirement of May-Treanor. Kessy and Ross were playing in their first Olympics.
The first set was tied at 13-13 before Walsh Jennings/May Treanor scored 6 of the next 7 points to open up an insurmountable 19-14 lead. In the second set, Kessy/Ross held a 9-8 lead before their counterparts ran off 3 points in a row and were never threatened the rest of the way.
Kessy recorded 14 kills, 2 blocks and 2 aces, while Ross had 8 kills.
Kessy was a 2-time All-Conference performer at USC while lettering from 1995 to 1998. Ross, who lettered from 2000 to 2003, was a 2-time All-American and was the 2003 Honda Award winner for women's volleyball as she led the Women of Troy to the 2002 and 2003 NCAA titles. Kessy and Ross have combined for 21 pro tournament victories.
