LOS ANGELES - The USC women's sand volleyball program and Merle Norman Stadium will host three SoCal Sand Volleyball Camps from May 24-26, July 1-3, and August 11-13. Camp registration is now open and available to girls 8-12th grade (2013-14 academic year). Space is limited to 40 registrants in each of the three camps. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
SoCal Sand Camps are sand volleyball camps for elite high school athletes. Camp sessions include training and instruction from USC volleyball coaches Anna Collier, Andrew Fuller, and Jeff Nygaard, and student-athletes. The camp curriculum also includes physical training sessions and soft-tissue instruction with certified USC strength and conditioning coach Chris Chase, mental performance workshops with USC sports psychologist Nichole Sims, performance nutrition tips from USC sports nutritionist Kristy Morrell, and video breakdown and analysis with USC volleyball technical coordinator Jason Kennedy.
Camps will be held at the Merle Norman Sand Volleyball Stadium, located on the east side of the campus of the University of Southern California. Campers will take a campus tour and will partake in various activities in and around the USC campus.
Overnight accomodations are not provided. Campers are expected to arrange their own lodging and transportation for the duration of the camp. Meals are also not provided, but registration includes an abundance of healthy, performance-geared snacks. A packed lunch is recommend.
The Women of Troy completed their third year of competition as semifinalists in the AVCA Championships. USC was ranked No. 1 for five weeks and finished with a 23-3 overall record. Senior captain Kirby Burnham and freshman Sara Hughes claimed the AVCA pairs championship and were named All-Americans.
