    The No. 4-ranked USC women's sand volleyball team (14-6) will participate in the second American Volleyball Coaches Association Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championship tournament in Gulf Shores, Ala., this Friday through Sunday (May 3 -5). The Women of Troy join a six-team field that includes top-seeded and defending national champion Pepperdine (18-0) , second seed Long Beach State (17-3), third seed Florida State (15-2), fifth seed North Florida (16-3) and sixth seed Louisiana-Monroe (7-4). The event also will include a single elimination 16-team pairs championship that will feature the top two duos from the schools in the team competition, as well as 10 doubles teams from schools that were not selected for the team tourney. USC will be represented by its No. 1 pairs team of Kirby Burnham-Stevi Robinson (17-4) and No. 2 Katie Fuller-Cinnamon Sary (12-7). USC will begin team play on May 3 against North Florida at 9 a.m. CT, with the winner facing Pepperdine at noon CT that day and the loser playing at 4 p.m. CT that day against the loser of the match between Long Beach State and the Florida State/Louisiana-Monroe winner. If USC beats North Florida but loses to Pepperdine, it will play the loser of the FSU-ULM match at 5 p.m. on May 3. If USC wins twice on May 3, it will advance to the May 4 semifinals at 11 a.m. CT or noon CT, with the championship match set for 3:30 p.m. CT. In the team play, each school fields five doubles teams ranked in order and they play the corresponding pair from an opponent. The team-versus-team matches are decided by the school winning three of the five flights. Each match is rally scoring best-of-3 sets. The team tourney will be double elimination until a sudden death Final Four. The Women of Troy's two pairs teams will begin play in the pairs championship on May 5 at 8 a.m. CT. Besides the pairs squads from the team competition, the Best of the Rest duos include two teams from both UCLA and Florida International and one each from Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Alabama Birmingham, Jacksonville, Georgia State and Saint Mary's. The pairs tourney semifinals will be at noon CT and the final at 2 p.m. CT. CBS Sports Network will replay portions of the team and pairs competitions on May 21 at 4 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. ET and on May 28 at 8 p.m. ET.
