    USC Women's Sand Volleyball Plays at USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge This Weekend

    The No. 4-ranked USC women's sand volleyball team (12-5) will compete in the USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate Challenge at the pier in Hermosa Beach (Calif.) this Saturday (April 20) and Sunday (April 21). On Saturday in team dual competition, the Women of Troy will face No. 2 Long Beach State (13-2) at 10 a.m., then CSU Bakersfield (4-4) at noon and Loyola Marymount (4-8) at 2 p.m., with the winner of that pool facing the winner of the other 4-team pool--No. 1 Pepperdine (14-0), No. 5 Hawaii (4-6), No. 6 UCLA (2-5) and Santa Clara--for the team title at 3:30 p.m. Then on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m., there will be a single elimination pairs championship in the gold (Nos. 1 and 2 pairs teams), silver (Nos. 3 and 4 pairs teams) and bronze (No. 5 pairs teams) divisions, with championship matches at 3:15 p.m. USC has placed first (2009), tied for first (2010), second (2011) and third (2012) in the first 4 USAV Beach Collegiate Challenges in Hermosa Beach.
