No. 1 USC Beach Outruns Road Runners For 5-0 Sweep|

LOS ANGELES -- The No. 1-ranked USC beach volleyball team (28-0) posted a 5-0 sweep of Bakersfield (1-15) at Merle Norman Stadium on Thursday, April 20. The win pushed the Trojans' winning streak to 58 consecutive dual victories including 14 consecutive wins on home sand.
USC won each of its five matches in straight sets and got things started from court four where sophomore Abril Bustamante and freshman Joy Dennis posted their eighth-straight win when they took Ally Barber and Kayla Tinker, 21-7, 21-9. The Trojans went on top, 2-0, in the dual when sophomore Katrina Kernochan and junior Jo Kremer teamed up to get a 21-11, 21-16 win over Fabiana Andrade and Hannah Manzanares at the No. 5 position.
The clinching point came from court three as junior Terese Cannon and senior Nicolette Martin put together a 21-12, 21-7 over Sarah Garrow and Ashley Prater for their fourth straight win. USC tacked up a fourth point from court two as seniors Sophie Bukovec and Allie Wheeler earned a 21-12, 21-18 win against Madi Busler and Jocelyn Rodriguez. The fifth point in the sweep came from the top court as seniors Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes completed a 21-9, 21-8 win over Carol Grasso and Sara Little.
The Trojans will complete their regular-season schedule with two matches on Saturday (April 22). USC hosts Cal Poly (12-19) at 1 p.m. PT and then will face No. 2-ranked crosstown rival UCLA (25-2) at 3 p.m. The Mustangs and the Bruins will play a dual at 11 a.m. USC will celebrate its senior class of Bukovec, Claes, Hughes, Martin, and Wheeler in pre-match ceremonies at approximately 12:30 p.m., or following the conclusion of the UCLA-Cal Poly match.
