    MALIBU, Calif. - The No. 4-ranked USC women's sand volleyball team split a pair of dual matches on Saturday (April 6) in Malibu, beating No. 5 Hawaii, 3-2, after earlier falling to host No. 1 Pepperdine, 5-0.

    The Women of Troy's record is now 10-5. Defending national champion Pepperdine, which also swept Hawaii on Saturday, 5-0, is now 12-0. Hawaii fell to 4-6.

    In the USC-Hawaii match, the Women of Troy got wins at No. 1 (Kirby Burnham-Stevi Robinson over Jane Croson-Ashley Katl, 21-13, 21-11) No. 3 (Eve Ettinger-Bria Russ over Ali Longo-Karlee Riggs, 21-12, 21-15) and No. 5 (Brooke Fournier-Alexa Stonish over Olivia Urban-Ku'ulei Zalopany, 21-19, 21-11). The Rainbow Wahines notched wins at No. 2 (Natasha Bell-Tai Manu-Olevao over Katie Fuller-Cinnamon Sary, 22-20, 20-22, 15-10) and No. 4 (Ginger Long-Katie Spieler over Sam Hirschmann-Natasa Siljkovic, 22-20, 21-16).

    In the day's opening team dual, Pepperdine swept all but the No. 1 pairs match against USC. In that match, Burnham-Robinson extended Lilla Frederick-Kim Hill before falling, 19-21, 21-17, 15-13. Lara Dykstra-Caitlin Racich beat Fuller-Sary at No. 2, 21-12, 21-18, Kelley Larsen-Kellie Woolever beat Ettinger-Russ at No. 3, 21-6, 21-19, Victoria Adelhelm-Taylor Racich beat Fournier-Stonish at No. 4, 21-12, 21-15, and Emily Cook-Katie Messing beat Hirschmann-Sijkovic at No. 5, 21-18, 21-15.

    Burnham-Robinson was the only victorious Women of Troy team in the crossover matches, defeating Hawaii's Bell-Manu-Olevao, 21-15, 22-20. Fuller-Sary fell to Pepperdine's Frederick Hill, 21-10, 21-18, Ettinger-Russ lost to Pepperdine's Cook-Messing, 21-17, 21-14, Hirschmann-Siljkovic fell to Pepperdine's Larsen-Woolever, 21-15, 21-17, and Fournier-Stonish lost in 3 sets to Hawaii's Longo-Riggs, 17-21, 22-20, 15-11.

    USC next travels to Santa Barbara on April 13 for dual matches against Santa Barbara City College and Fullerton College.
