No. 1 Trojans Take Down LMU and Concordia In Doubleheader|

LOS ANGELES - On Thursday, April 2, the No. 1-ranked USC women's sand volleyball team (14-0) defended their home court as they defeated Loyola Marymount 4-1 and Concordia 5-0 in a doubleheader at Merle Norman Stadium. Both matches were broadcast on the Pac-12 Network with the Women of Troy extending their school-record winning streak to 14 duals.
The Trojans opened the day with a win from court five as freshman Jenna Belton and senior Bria Russ defeated LMU's Kristen Castellanos and Taylor Scioscia 21-13, 21-7. Sophomores Nicolette Martin and Allie Wheeler were next to grab a win as they beat LMU's Rachelle Suaava and Hannah Tedrow 21-10, 21-7 on court four. Seniors Eve Ettinger and Meg Norton sealed the dual match victory from court three over LMU's Avery Bush/Anne Marie Taylor with a score of 21-10, 21-13.
The action continued on court two where USC's duo of sophomore Sophie Bukovec and junior Alexa Strange claimed a decisive 21-16, 21-17 win over Taylor Akana /Litara Keil. Court one was locked in a three set battle as USC's top pair of sophomores Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes competed with Betsi Metter and Sarah Sponcil. LMU closed out the match with a win of their own as Metter/Sponcil defeated Claes/Hughes in a tight third set with final scores of 17-21, 21-13 and 15-13.
For the second match of the day, USC took on the Eagles from Concordia University in Irvine, Calif. The Trojans breezed through this match as USC dominated Merle Norman Stadium.
USC's Jenna Belton and Bria Russ claimed the first win over Kalia Ames and Emily Tolliver 21-5, 21-11 on court five. Not long after, court four closed out their match as USC's Nicolette Martin and Allie Wheeler defeated Sam Palmer and Maddy Deters 21-10, 21-7. With their second clinch of the day, the Trojan duo of Eve Ettinger and Meg Norton claimed the dual victory for USC over Concordia's Celeste Snider and Kyra Auten with a dominating score of 21-2, 21-4.
The final two courts finished shortly thereafter. On the top court, USC's Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes beat Concordia's Rachel Flynn and Marissa Boyd 21-9, 21-11. Finally, Sophie Bukovec and Alexa Strange finished off the day with a 21-10, 21-18 win on court two over Kayla Kane and Kailey Dedevoir to secure the sweep of the Eagles.
The Trojans' next action takes them to Zuma Beach in Malibu, Calif. where they will put their undefeated record on the line as they take on No. 3 Pepperdine at 10 a.m. on Saturday (April 4).
