The sand volleyball duo of Burnham/Robinson win the honor for the first time this year.
The Women of Troy completed a 5-0 sweep over Saint Mary's College to cap a 2-0 week in Northern California.
Sand 2013: Robinson, one of USC's most-experienced sand players who will compete during the 2013 season as a graduate student. transferred to USC in the fall of 2012 after helping Pepperdine win the 2012 national championship.
Pepperdine Sand 2012: Robinson and Kelley Larsen went 19-6 overall (15-1 in dual matches) in 2012 while playing in the No. 3 and No. 4 pairs spots as Pepperdine won the AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championship..She had 20-plus digs in 5 matches and 20-plus kills 4 times.
Other Sand Experience: In the summer of 2012, she worked with the USA Beach National Training Team...She and Kirby Burnham advanced to the quarterfinals at the NORCECA Beach Circuit event in Aruba in December of 2012...She and Eve Ettinger competed in the NORCECA Beach Circuit event in Chula Vista in September of 2012, as well as in the 2012 Manhattan Beach Open and Hermosa Beach Open...She placed ninth with Emily Cook at the 2012 Los Angeles USA Volleyball International Development Qualifier...She twice placed second at the USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate Challenge, in 2009 with Kim Hill and in 2011 with Cook....She played in the 2007 Manhattan Beach Open with Falyn Fonoimoana.
Pepperdine Indoor: She played in 111 matches during her 4-year indoor career (2008-11) at Pepperdine as a libero and defensive specialist...She owns the Pepperdine career digs record with 1,750 and she is just the eighth Waves player to break the 100 career aces barrier (105)...She twice was the West Coast Conference's Defensive Player of the Year...She made All-WCC honorable mention and NCAA Regional All-Tournament as a senior in 2011 when she averaged 3.66 digs and had 26 aces in 30 matches...She had double figures in digs 21 times in 2011, including 6 matches with 20-plus digs...She was the 2010 WCC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and made All-WCC honorable mention as a junior while starting all 28 matches...She averaged 4.30 digs (she had double figures in digs 24 times, with 20-plus digs 6 times) and had 27 aces in 2010...She made All-WCC honorable mention as a 2009 sophomore while starting all 27 matches at libero...She averaged 4.81 digs and led Pepperdine in aces (37) in 2009...She had double figures in digs 25 times, with 20-plus digs 6 times in 2009...She was the WCC's Defensive Player of the Year, made All-WCC honorable mention and was on the WCC All-Freshman team as a 2008 freshman while leading the league in digs (4.81) as the starting libero...She appeared in 26 matches in 2008, reaching double figures in digs 23 times, including 20-plus digs 8 times and 30-plus digs twice.
High School/Club: She was a 2007 Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 pick as a senior at Mira Costa High in Manhattan Beach (Calif.) as her team went 37-0, won the CIF Southern Section and state championships and claimed the nation's No. 1 ranking...She spent her first 3 years of high school at Stockdale High in Bakersfield (Calif.), earning Bakersfield Californian All-Area honors as a 2006 junior as her team advanced to the CIF Central Section final (Stockdale won the championship when she was a freshman in 2004)...She also played softball and basketball at Stockdale...She played with the USA Junior National team in 2006 as the squad won a gold medal at the NORCECA Continental Championship in Mexico...She made the All-Tournament team at the 2008 Junior Olympics as her club team won the 18 Open gold medal.
Personal: She was born Oct. 15, 1989...She received her bachelor's degree in public relations from Pepperdine in 2012 and is working on her master's degree in communication management from USC, where she has a B+ average (3.50 GPA).
