    USC Women's Sand Volleyball 2014 Season Outlook

    The USC sand volleyball team has its sights set on a national championship as 2014 opens

    Lauren Sieckmann will redshirt her first season with the Women of Troy per NCAA transfer rules.

    As a member of the Pepperdine sand volleyball team, Sieckmann went 4-2 in the spring of 2013; 1-1 with Jazmine Orozco and 3-1 with Katie Messing.

    Sieckmann played the 2012 fall indoor volleyball season at Wayne State and appeared in 16 matches as an outside hitter... had 206 kills (fourth on the team despite playing in only half of the season's matches) and averaged a team-best 3.75 kills per set... had 10-plus kills 12 times and had five kills-digs double-doubles... had 130 digs, 16 assists, 11 aces and 23 blocks.

    Sieckmann graduated early from Elkhorn South HS (Dec. 2011) and enrolled at Nebraska to join the Cornhuskers for spring workouts in 2012.

    Sieckmann was a two-time Super State setter and an Under Armour All-American, spending her 2011 senior season at Elkhorn (Neb.) South HS after previously attending Marian High in Omaha (Neb.)... had 349 kills, 52 aces, 27 blocks, 240 digs, and 185 assists at Elkhorn in 2011... led Marian to the state runner-up finish in 2010 with 377 kills (hitting .353) and 585 assists... as a 2009 sophomore, she helped Marian win the Class A state championship and was named the Gatorade Nebraska Player of the Year and All-State All-Class second team... part of the USA Volleyball Youth National Team that won gold at the 2010 NORCECA Girls' Youth Continental Championship... selected to the U.S. Girls' Select A1 team in 2008 and 2009... led her Nebraska Junior club team to the Open Division 16s title at the USA Volleyball Junior National Championship.

    Lauren Elizabeth Sieckmann was born on Feb. 2, 1994, in Omaha, Neb... parents are Tom and Deb Sieckmann... father, Tom, played golf on the PGA Tour from 1984 to 1994... lists her father as her biggest sports hero... majoring in psychology with a minor in consumer behavior.
