Sam Hirschmann enters her senior season with the Women of Troy and will serve as a team captain.
Hirschmann played mainly at the No. 5 spot as a junior in 2013, going 16-14 overall... she was 8-7 while finishing the year with Natasa Siljkovic, 4-2 with Kati Duddridge, 1-0 with Erin Kaupp, 2-3 with Alexa Stonish, and 1-2 with Sydney Seau... teamed with Siljkovic to finish second in the bronze division at the USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge pairs tourney... was slowed early in 2013 after breaking her right hand prior to the season... served as a USC co-captain... placed second with Silkjovic at the 2013 Open Division of the Huntington Beach CBVA tournament.
After spending two years on USC's indoor team, Hirschmann competed on the sand as a sophomore in 2012... teamed with Kendall Bateman to go 13-8 at the No. 4 position before she broke her left hand and missed the final month of the season.
Hirschmann redshirted as a sophomore outside hitter in the fall of 2011... played in six matches for the Women of Troy as a 2010 freshman outside hitter, recording five kills (0.71 kps) for a .167 hitting percentage with two service aces (0.29 saps), three digs (0.43 dps), one block (0.14 bps) and 7.5 points (1.07 pps).
Hirschmann was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Marymount HS in Los Angeles... won four straight Sunshine League championships... served as team captain in her 2009 senior year and earned All-Sunshine League first team honors in her junior and senior seasons... named ESPN Rise CalHiSports Girls' state Athlete of the Week in September 2009... earned several academic student of the semester honors... played for the Sunshine and Spikerz VBC... helped her club team place third at the 2010 Las Vegas Classic tournament and second at the 2008 Indiana Qualifier.
Samantha Hirschmann was born on Sept. 5, 1991... father, James, played football at Widener University and was a member of the NCAA DIII national championship team... brother, Jimmy, played on the USC men's volleyball team (2008)... majoring in communication.
