    No. 1 USC Beach Wins Outrigger Hawai'i Invitational Crown

    The Women of Troy defeated host No. 5-ranked Hawai'i, 4-1, to win the tournament and extended to a 41-match winning streak

    Allie Wheeler begins her fourth and final season of action with the Women of Troy.

    As a junior, Wheeler partnered with Nicolette Martin exclusively at the No. 3 position… posted a 31-4 record in dual play with a 36-5 record overall to help USC win the first-ever NCAA national championship… played fifteen three-set matches on the year with Martin and went 12-3… took first place at the Hawai’i Invitational silver bracket championship… won 17 matches in a row (March 19-April 10), concluding with a 2-1 victory over Florida State to provide one of the points in the NCAA title match… together with Martin, won the conference’s first-ever Pac-12 Pair of the Week award (March 8).

    As a sophomore, Wheeler went 31-5 with a 22-2 record in duals at the No. 4 position with partner Nicolette Martin... won the USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge Bronze title, advanced to the Queen of the Beach Gold quarterfinal and the Pac-12 Invitational Silver final with Martin… won 13 straight matches between April 11-19… produced the clinching points in USC’s wins over Stetson and Pepperdine at the AVCA National Championships… won a pair of matches to qualify for the main draw at AVP Seattle with Martin and was seeded 16th.

    As a freshman, Wheeler produced a 26-5 overall record… played primarily with Nicolette Martin to post a 24-5 overall record with a 17-1 mark in duals at No. 5… also went 1-0 at court five with Bria Russ and won a single match with Paige Hines… advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rainbow Wahine Spring Challenge before falling to teammates Kirby Burnham and Sara Hughes… advanced to the quarterfinals of the USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge bronze bracket and the Pac-12 Invitational.

    Wheeler earned 2012 Volleyball Magazine High School All-American second team, AVCA High School All-American honorable mention and All-West Catholic Athletic League first team honors at Archbishop Mitty HS in San Jose (Calif.) as a senior setter and opposite hitter as she helped her team to a 38-0 record, the CIF Central Coast championship and the CIF Division II state championship… named MVP of the 2012 CIF State Championship Match… earned All-Mercury News Honorable Mention as a sophomore and All-Mercury News First Team as a junior and senior… played for Vision Volleyball Club for seven years and won a silver medal at the Junior Olympics... was a member of the USA Volleyball High Performance Beach U19 program. 

    Allie Tatro Wheeler was born on Sept. 9, 1995, in San Jose, Calif.… parents are Richard and Jody Wheeler… has one sister, Nicole, who played soccer at Cal Poly (2012-16)… lists Misty May-Treanor as her biggest sports heroine… enjoys skiing, surfing, and hiking in her spare time… majoring in international relations.
