    Sand 2013: Hornacek, who played on the nation's first-ever prep state champion sand team, will compete as a 2013 freshman on USC's sand team. She has been slowed in the pre-season because of illness

    High School/Club: She played setter and opposite hitter at Xavier College Prep in Phoenix (Ariz.), which won the Class 5A Division I state title her first 3 years there...She had 376 kills, 286 digs, 85 aces and 234 assists as a 2011-12 senior and 221 kills, 155 digs, 57 aces and 369 assists as a 2010-11 junior...She also went 8-0 on Xavier Prep's sand team that won the 2012 state title as Arizona offered the sport for the first season nationally on the high school level...She trained with the USA Volleyball Beach program...In the summer of 2012, she won the USA Junior National Beach Championship 18s with Aren Cupp and as a member of the USA National Beach Team placed fifth at the USA High Performance Beach Championships with Emily Podschweit...She also placed 17th with Cupp at the 2012 Los Angeles USA Volleyball International Development Qualifier...She and Christian Otzen finished third at the USA Volleyball Junior Beach Volleyball Desert Open...She originally committed to play indoors at Kansas...She played for the Spiral Volleyball Club.

    Personal: She was born April 25, 1994...Her father, Jeff, played 14 years as a guard in the NBA (1987-92 with the Phoenix Suns, 193-94 with the Philadelphia 76ers and 1995-2000 with the Utah Jazz), making the 1992 NBA All-Star team, after leading Iowa State to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 1986...Her brother, Tyler, was a setter on the USC men's team from 2010 to 2012...She is a broadcast journalism major at USC.
