WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Two players from the USC women's soccer team were named to the 2001 Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic teams, announced today by Commissioner Tom Hansen. To be eligible for selection to the team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point-average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Junior midfielder Ali Fennell was named to the first team with a 3.52 GPA in communications while sophomore midfielder Megan Abbamonto had a 3.47 GPA and has yet to declare a major.
The Trojans finished the 2001 season with a 10-7-2 record and reached the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the fourth straight tournament appearance for the program.
