USC's Amy Rodriguez slotted the game-winning goal for Team USA today to secure the United States a spot in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. The former Trojan's goal in the 41st minute of play put the USA ahead of Italy in a do-or-die two-game series against the Italians to determine the final berth into the World Cup.

Rodriguez, who was one of the WPL's leading scorers this season with the Philadelphia Independence and also recently picked up her 50th career cap with the U.S. National Team, was a 2007 NCAA Champion with the Women of Troy. Also a 2008 Olympic gold-medalist with Team USA, Rodriguez is looking for another benchmark in going to Germany to compete in her first FIFA World Cup. She's currently up for honors as the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year.
