Senior forward Lauren Brown has been making a big impact for the No. 2 ranked USC women's soccer team all season, and her efforts last weekend have garnered Brown the first national honors of her career. Brown had a goal and an assist in USC road win over California last weekend, and then followed up with another assist on USC's tying goal in a 1-1 draw with Stanford. For her efforts, Brown has been named to the SoccerBuzz Elite Team of the Week. She is second on the team in scoring and assists with a new season high of five goals along with four assists so far this year.

Behind Brown's goal and two assists, the Trojans their unbeaten streak to 10 straight with a win over Cal and a tie with Stanford. Brown's goal at Cal was USC's third of the game, coming in the second half with a strong shot played after a USC corner kick. She had already served up the assist on the game-winning goal when her shot hit the crossbar and was collected by teammate Marihelen Tomer for the putaway in the first half. Against top-ranked Stanford, Brown helped pull USC even with the Cardinal late in regulation with a cross to Amy Rodriguez in the 84th minute of play.

Brown's weekend effort lifted the senior into the USC record books, standing at No. 12 all-time in points (35), No. 12 in goals (12) and No. 10 in assists (11). Brown's goal against Cal was USC's ninth in Pac-10 play, passing up the total goals recorded by the Trojans during conference play in 2006. USC is now 11-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in Pac-10 play.

The Trojans now turn to face top-ranked UCLA on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Westwood.

Brown is the second Trojan to be named to a SoccerBuzz Elite Team of the Week this season, as freshman Megan Ohai also earned the honor on Oct. 2.
