LOS ANGELES - USC rising junior Kayla Mills was named to the U.S. U-23 Women's National Team that is set to play in a four-team tournament in Norway, May 27-31.
Mills (West Covina, Calif./Flintridge Sacred Hart HS) previously had stints with the U.S. Women's National Team U-17 and U-20 squads, but this is her first action with the U-23 team. The 22-player roster features 19 college players in addition to three current professionals, all whom play outside the United States
Mills earned All-Pac-12 First Team honors in 2014 and was also named a NSCAA All-Pacific Region First Teamer as she started 18 of 20 games, mostly as a defender, although she is dangerous on the attack as well.
She is one of three current Pac-12 student-athletes to be named to the roster, as Stanford goalkeeper Jane Campbell and UCLA forward Taylor Smith were also named to the team.
The USA opens the competition on May 27 against the Sweden U-23 WNT at Fredrikstad Stadium, faces England on May 29 at Sarpsborg Stadium, and finishes up the three-games-in-five-days set on May 31 against England at Fredrikstad Stadium.
