Feb. 26, 2013
The 2012 USC women's soccer team was honored by the NSCAA for team academic excellence this past season. The Women of Troy accumulated a total team GPA of over 3.0 to land repeat honors with the NSCAA Team Academic Award.
The 2012 squad posted a 3.09 GPA in fall 2012 and currently holds a cumulative team GPA of 3.05. The Trojans were boosted up by five Pac-12 All-Academic honorees in 2012. For the third time in the past five years, the USC had five Trojans on the honor roll, with three nabbing back-to-back honors with their 2012 selection. Juniors Autumn Altamirano, Haley Boysen and Elizabeth Eddy all earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention for the second time. First-time honorees from the Trojan roster this season were senior Courtney Garcia and sophomore Jessica Musmanno, who also picked up Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Altamirano and Boysen lad the pack in 2012 with GPAs over 3.5. Altamirano holds a 3.52 as a psychology major, and Boysen stands at 3.51 as a communication major. That pair combined for three goals and three assists for the Women of Troy this season. Fellow junior Eddy provided a goal and three assists this year, holding a 3.14 GPA as a business major. Sophomore Jessica Musmanno got in on the scoring action this year with two assists, going along with her 3.28 GPA as a business major as well. Senior Garcia is on pace to graduate with a major in economics and a minor in business administration, as she holds a 3.03 GPA to go along with her eight career goals and three career assists as a Trojan.
With those five at the forefront of USC's academic achievements in 2012, the Trojans held a combined 3.09 team GPA in the fall to land recognition with the 2012 NSCAA Team Academic Award.
