LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- The USC women's soccer team's unlucky streak has now stretched into a five-game skid of one-goal losses, the latest coming when an overtime score from visiting No. 19 Oregon State broke a scoreless tie after 94 minutes of play. The host Women of Troy fall to 3-8-0 overall and have an 0-2 start to Pac-12 play after today's home loss to the Beavers at McAlister Field. Oregon State, meanwhile, improves to 8-2-1, 2-0 with its fourth straight victory.

USC put plenty of pressure on the Beaver back line throughout the game, picking up the pace markedly during the second half of play. Oregon State put two shots off the crossbar in the game -- once in the first half and once in the second -- but USC goalkeeper Shelby Church and her defensive line of Autumn Altamirano, Samantha Johnson, Kristina Noriega and Chelsea Buehning were an effective unit in turning away OSU attacks throughout regulation. Meanwhile, up front, USC's Ashli Sandoval, Ashley Freyer and Courtney Garcia all forced saves out of Beaver keeper Colleen Boyd thanks to setups from teammates Elizabeth Eddy, Brittany Kerridge and Carly Butcher.

USC was pushing hard against Oregon State through the final minutes of regulation, but a breakthrough goal stayed out of reach as the Trojans went into their third overtime game of the year. Sandoval put a strong foot on a shot that went just high early in the first OT period. After an OSU player came off the field with an injury, however, the Beavers found their way into a counterattack opportunity. Melinda Ingalls shoved the ball out to the right for Jenna Richardson, who collected it and charged on goal as Church advanced to challenge the attack. Richardson was able to put the ball through, however, rolling it in for the game-winner with 94:10 on the clock to pin up the Beavers' fourth straight win.

Scoreless at home this season, USC now turns to host Oregon in more Pac-12 play. The Ducks come to Troy on Sunday (Oct. 2) for a 1 p.m. clash with the Trojans at McAlister Field.
