IRVINE, Calif. - No. 14 USC women's soccer team played UC Irvine to a 1-1 draw at Anteater Recreational Field on Sunday evening.

On the game, head coach Keidane McAlpine said, “We are still searching for a game where we play with the right energy and passion from beginning to end. This was a great preparation game for us. Irvine played a fantastic game and brought good energy. It will definitely help us get ready for those Sunday games during Pac-12 play. I am happy that we got a result in this kind of game.”

The Women of Troy (5-0-2) got on the board early in the first half, but the Anteaters (3-4-1) scored the equalizer in the 75th minute to put the score at 1-1. Through the two overtime periods, the Women of Troy pounded the goal, but were unable find the back of the net with an equalizer.

In the seventh minute, the Women of Troy got on the board, as Tamara Mejia set up Natalie Donaldson with a one-touch pass that Donaldson shot low and hard towards the lower left corner. Katie Johnson got her foot on the ball, redirecting it into the back of the goal for her second goal of the season.

In the match, the Women of Troy outshot the Anteaters 12-7 and had five corner kick opportunities to their two.
