FULLERTON, CALIF. - The USC women's soccer team scored an early goal and held onto that advantage as the Trojans pinned up a 1-0 win over Purdue on the final day of action at the Under Armour Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. Megan Ohai scored the game-winner to crack USC's all-time top-10 in career goals and register the senior's seventh career game-winning goal. USC improves to 2-1-2 with today's win, and Purdue moves to 3-2-1.

For their efforts in Fullerton, four Women of Troy were named to the All-Tournament Team, marking the most representation on the honor roll among the four teams competing at the Under Armour Invitational. USC's All-Tournament Team honorees were junior Carly Butcher and seniors Alyssa Davila, Karter Haug and Megan Ohai.

In Sunday's match, the Women of Troy put the Boilermakers on their heels early on when a free kick in the 10th minute of play set up Ohai's score. Senior defender Karter Haug lined up for the free kick from the right sideline, sailing the ball into the box. Ohai got to it and knocked a header over Purdue goalkeeper Carianne Betts for the goal. The score marks Ohai's 15th career goal to push the senior into USC's all-time top 10 in career scoring. Ohai's first game-winner of the year pushes her career count to seven to pull her to No. 6 all-time in career game-winning goals.

Up 1-0, USC continue to plug away, generating eight first-half shots while turning away a pair of Purdue corner kicks and putting a stop to a dangerous free kick. Freshmen Elizabeth Eddy, Haley Boysen and Autumn Altamirano all caused trouble for the Boilermaker back line in the half, but USC would not add to its lead in the half.

More nice ball movement shined in the second half of play for the Trojans, as they created five more shots and forced three more saves out of Purdue keeper Betts. Purdue earned three corner kicks in the second half, but could not manage an equalizer. In the final six minutes of play, USC's strikers continued to buzz deep into Purdue territory, although it turned out no extra padding was necessary in the match. Ohai's goal would stand as the game-winner for USC.

USC's next action takes the Trojans back to Los Angeles for a tournament at McAlister Field next weekend. The Trojans will face Auburn at 3:30 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 10) and then squares off against Northern Arizona at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 12).
