LOS ANGELES - Freshman forward Jackie Fodor scored two goals and freshman forward Jennifer Prigmore added a goal and an assist in their collegiate debuts as the No. 24 USC women's soccer team blasted UC Irvine, 4-0, at the Coliseum on Sunday afternoon in the 1999 season opener.

Junior midfielder Andrea Warner scored the other goal for the Women of Troy (1-0), who outshot the Anteaters (0-1) 30-4 and beat them for the fourth straight time.

"You're always a little nervous about the first game, but this was a very good outing," USC Coach Jim Millinder said. "There are a lot of new names that appear in the box score, like Jackie Fodor and Jennifer Prigmore, that did well. We have a lot of quality players this year."

Fodor (Winnetka/Chatsworth HS) started the scoring in the 12th minute when she took a pass from sophomore defender Erin Reed (Alamo/San Ramon Valley HS) and blasted it in from the right side.

Moments before halftime, junior defender Megan Orach (Huntington Beach/Marina HS) passed the ball into the box, where it was headed by junior forward Kaylee Whitfield (Santa Ana/El Modena HS) to Prigmore (Norman, OK/North HS), who one-timed it home.

In the 56th minute, Warner (Dana Point/Dana Hills HS), set up by a pass from sophomore forward Christy Callier (San Diego/University City HS), found herself with only the goalie to beat and slid it past her for the third goal.

USC's final score came in the 88th minute, as Prigmore's cross found Fodor in the box, and she kicked it in.

The Women of Troy host the 1999 Fila Challenge next weekend (Sept. 4 & 6) at McAlister Field, featuring defending NCAA champion Florida, ACC power Maryland and crosstown rival UCLA.
