THIS SEASON
Ashley Nick enters her final season at USC as a trustworthy midfielder with excellent field awareness and a solid possession game.
2007:
Team co-captain Nick became one of USC's six NSCAA All-Americans, named to the Second Team after a junior season in which the powerful midfielder started all 25 games... Nick scored four goals and had three assists... Scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime against Missouri to get USC its first-ever win in the NCAA Second Round... In addition to honors as a NSCAA/adidas Second Team All-American, was named to SoccerBuzz All-America Second Team... Earned regional honors as SoccerBuzz First Team All-West Region and NSCAA/adidas First Team All-West Region... Also named to All-Pac-10 First Team.
2006:
Nick started 20 of 21 games as a sophomore... Tallied two goals and one assist on the year... Against UNLV on Sept. 17, assisted on the first goal and then scored USC's fourth in the win... Scored USC's only goal against UCLA on Oct. 15... Earned Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention.
2005:
Nick appeared in all 21 games as a freshman, getting the starting nod in six games of USC's first seven games... Registered an assist in the second game of the year when USC beat Indiana 6-0.
NATIONAL TEAMS:
Nick competed with the under-23 U.S. national team in 2008 training in Spain... Trained with under-17 and under-20 U.S. national teams.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Nick was a 2005 SoccerBuzz Top 25 recruit... Was an All-CIF first team selection as a senior and a first team All-Pacific League selection all four seasons for soccer at Arcadia High in Monrovia, Calif... Also selected to 2003 and 2004 all-league first team for volleyball... Named 2005 Athlete of the Year at Arcadia... 2005 Scholar Athlete... Also played one season of softball... Honor student all four years... Played club soccer for SASC Double Trouble, MVSC Elite, SASC Strikers and Slammers... Won state and regional club titles as an U-13, U-16 and U-17... Member of ODP state and regional team from 2000-2005... Won 2004 ODP national championship.
PERSONAL:
Nick is majoring in general studies and would like to become a first-grade teacher... Parents are Greg and Kristy, both USC graduates... Has one brother, Devon... Uncles Bruce and Clay Matthews also attended USC and played football for the Trojans and in the NFL...Cousins Kyle and Clay Matthews also played football at USC (Clay is currently on the 2007 Trojan team)... Favorite movies are `The Notebook' and `The Ring' and favorite TV shows are `CSI' and `Law and Order'...Birthdate is Oct. 27, 1987.
