2003: Fennell was selected in the third round (23rd overall) of the 2003 WUSA Draft by the Washington Freedom.
2002: Fennell registered career-highs in goals (nine) and points (19) in her 2002 senior season...led the team in goals, points and game-winning goals (five)...earned All-Pac-10 second team honors...earned All-Pac-10 All-Academic second team honors with a 3.57 grade-point-average...scored a goal in three straight games (Sept. 13-21)...scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win on Oct. 6 against No. 7 Santa Clara.
JIM MILLINDER SAYS: "Ali has improved to the next level because she has demanded that of herself. She will be a very good player coming out of the back because she can penetrate and get good crosses. She is better in terms of running at people than with her back to the goal. She is perhaps our fittest player and highly competitive. I think she has the potential to play in the WUSA. She can go as far as she wants if she continues to work hard."
2001: Fennell started in every game during her 2001 junior season...registered two goals and three assists on the season...scored the game-winner on Oct. 26 in a 1-0 win at Oregon State...recorded a goal on Sept. 30 in a 3-0 win at Loyola Marymount...registered assists in back-to-back games on Sept. 21 vs. UC Irvine and Sept. 23 vs. Oakland...had a season-high four shots on Sept. 23 vs. Oakland.
2000: Along with Isabelle Harvey, she provided strong play on the flank in her sophomore season...started in every game...earned All-Pac-10 second team honors...recorded goals in back-to-back games on Nov. 3 at Arizona and Oct. 29 vs. Stanford...had two goals in a 5-2 win on Oct. 15 vs. Oregon State...scored a goal on Sept. 17 vs. Central Florida...had a five-point night with two goals and an assist on Sept. 10 vs. Vanderbilt...recorded an assist on Sept. 3 vs. Michigan.
1999: One of the top freshmen on the West Coast in 1999, Fennell blossomed quickly and started all 20 matches at midfielder...earned 1999 Soccer Buzz Freshman All-American third team, Soccer Buzz Freshman All-West Region first team and All-Pac-10 second team...finished third on USC with 16 points on six goals and four assists...named Pac-10 Player of the Week twice and was the conference's first player ever to win the award in successive weeks...her first award came after scoring the game-winning goal against then-No. 8 UConn and getting the game-winning assist against then-No. 12 Portland, and the second came after scoring two goals in a 2-1 win over then-No. 8 BYU...earned a spot on the Soccer America Team of the Week twice in both cases.
HIGH SCHOOL: One of the top players in the area during her prep career, Fennell earned three-time (1997-99) All-CIF Southern Section Division II first team honors at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif...two-time (1998-99) Orange County Register All-Orange County first teamer and made the Los Angeles Times All-Orange County first team in 1999...had 23 goals and 14 assists as a senior, and 26 goals and 11 assists as a junior...also made the All-South Coast League first team three times...named Mater Dei's Athlete of the Year as a senior and was on the honor roll all four years...played for the Southern California Blues club team...has been part of Olympic Development Program district, state and regional teams since she was 14.
