    LOS ANGELES -- The USC women's rowing team will kick off the 2003-04 fall season this week when it travels to Boston, Mass., for the 39th annual Head of the Charles regatta on the banks on the Charles River. The Women of Troy's Varsity Eight boat will compete on Sunday, Oct. 19, in the championship eights division.

    The Head of the Charles regatta is the world's largest two-day rowing event. In its 38-year history, the race has grown into a 24-event regatta which draws more that 300,000 fans and more than 6,000 athletes from around the world.

    Despite skipping the event last season, USC has enjoyed some outstanding performances at the Head of the Charles in past years, including a seventh-place finish (fifth among collegiate teams) in 2000.
