Deirdre Fitzpatrick Claims Silver Medal at Junior World Championships|

PLOVDIV, Bulgaria - Incoming USC women's rowing freshman Deirdre Fitzpatrick captured the silver medal at the Junior World Championships, this weekend, as she helped her boat to a final time of 6:56.44. Fitzpatrick is in her second year as a member of the U.S. Junior National Team and was part of a priority boat that was just three seconds short of claiming the gold medals.
From Cheshire, Conn., Fitzpatrick rowed for the Connecticut Boat Club; one of the top programs in the country. She earned a spot on the U.S. eight boat which placed third at the Junior World Championships a year ago. Fitzpatrick also placed third at the 2011 U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships with the eight boat and took first place at the Head of the Charles in the Youth Fours category.
Fitzpatrick is one of five top recruits who will join the USC women's rowing program for the 2013 season. Darian DiCianno (Lafayette, Pa. / Mount Saint Joseph Academy), Lindsay Gibson (Roswell, Ga. / Roswell HS), Kamali Houston (Sacramento, Calif. / St. Francis HS), and Michelle Martina (Monte Sereno, Calif. /St. Francis HS) will also be new additions to the Trojan roster, this fall.
