The No. 6 USC women's rowing team opens the 2012 season March 31-April 1 in Mission Bay, Calif. at the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic where the Varsity Eight and the Varsity Four both won titles at last years event.

USC's Varsity Eight, 2nd Varsity Eight, Varsity Four, 2nd Varsity Four and Novice Eight will all be in action this weekend in a field of the countries' top teams.

In 2011, USC's Varsity Eight won the third Jessop-Whittier Cup in school history by taking first in the Women's Collegiate Varsity Invitational Grand Final. The Trojans with a winning time of 6.32.90 finished a boat length ahead of #4 Stanford followed by #3 Cal, #15 Wisconsin, #8 Washington and #13 Washington State.

The Trojans also won the inaugural Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup by taking first place in the Collegiate 4+ Grand Final. With a time of 7:30.90 USC finished three seconds ahead of UCLA followed by Oklahoma, Stanford, Oregon State and Iowa.
