SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The USC women's rowing team had all four boats finish in the top 5 of the Varsity Eight and Varsity Four races at the Head of the American on Lake Natoma on Saturday.
The Women of Troy's performance was highlighted by the "A" and "B" Varsity Eight boats which placed second and third, respectively, in the Women's Open 8+. USC's "A" crew crossed the finish line just two seconds (17:46) behind first-place California (17:44), while the "B" boat placed third in a time of 18:13. Sacramento State (18:24) and Stanford (18:36) followed for fourth and fifth place.
In the Women's Open 4+ event, the Trojans' "A" and "B" crews paced Cal's "A" and "B" boats for much of the race, but finished behind the Golden Bears in fourth (20:42) and fifth (20:48) place. Stanford won the race in a time of 19:34.
Today's competition marked the second of three fall races for USC as the team travels to Newport Beach next week to compete in the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival on Sunday, Nov. 2.
