SAN PEDRO, Calif. -- The 12th-ranked USC women's rowing team produced a four-boat sweep of No. 20-ranked crosstown rival UCLA in the annual dual at the Port of Los Angeles on Saturday, April 30. The Women of Troy maintained their perfect record against the Bruins (15-0) and swept their rival for the first time since 2004 and for just the second time in the all-time series. It was also the first time that USC's third varsity eight or novice eight defeated UCLA since 2006.

The Trojans' varsity eight continued its own streak in the dual having never lost in the 15 head-to-head meetings. The team victory also delivered a valuable 10 points to USC in the BMW Crosstown Cup standings.

All four of USC's boats completed races with significant leads over UCLA. The third varsity eight got the day started with a four-second win (7:07.8 to 7:11.4) and a 1-0 lead in the dual. Madison Manning coxed the 3V8, which had Isabel Fitter at stroke. She was followed by Kate Melberg, Madison Knight, Barbara Klavin, Kamali Houston, Katherine Plaxe, Emily McRight, and Marina Coskinas sat in the bow seat.

The varsity four, coxed by Chloe Chrysikopoulos, put the Trojans on top, 2-0, with their win. Stroked by Sofie Mikkelsen, with Marliis Reinkort at the third seat, Kendall Sinosky at two, and Miona Mitrovic in the bow, the USC V4 posted a big eight-second open-water victory with a time of 7:25.2 to UCLA's 7:33.3.

USC cemented the victory with a win by the second varsity eight. Again, the Trojans pulled away and won by nearly five seconds with a time of 6:55.8 to UCLA's 7:00.7. Coxswain Pecko Lin called the race for the Women of Troy with Keret Einaste at stroke. She was followed by Lindsay Gibson, Krete Koovit, Sara Bilimoria, Molly Thorp, Katie Hubert, Brooke Downes, and Erika Blumberga. The 2V8 put USC out of reach at 4-0 with one more race to go.

In the day's top race, USC's varsity eight blew away the Bruins by eight seconds and finished with open water and a time of 6:35.7 to UCLA's 6:43.8. The win sealed the Trojans' 7-0 sweep. Junior coxswain Kaelyn Ibold called the V8 race with Krisztina Gyimes at stroke. Madara Strautmane sat in the seventh seat followed by Athina Angelopoulou, Sasha Varekova, Chloe Brew, Radka Novotnikova, Sofia Sobotta, and Ida Gørtz Jacobsen in the bow.

The Women of Troy now begin preparations for the Pac-12 Championships set for Sunday, May 15, at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. For more information on USC women's rowing and a complete schedule, please visit USCTrojans.com, and follow @USCWomensRowing on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
