No. 5 Trojans Defeat No. 8 Bruins, Varsity Eight Remains Perfect|

SAN PEDRO, Calif. - The No. 5 USC women's rowing team scored victories from the varsity eight and the varsity four boats to defeat No. 8 UCLA this morning at the Port of Los Angeles. USC`s No. 2 ranked varsity eight boat remains undefeated this season and USC remains unbeaten UCLA (11-0) against the Bruins since the series inception in 2002.
In the main attraction of the meet, USC's varsity eight lineup of cox Dionne Licudine, Vineta Moca, Jelena Zelenovic, Lenka Vrecnikova, Magdalena Janicka, Anna Wierzbowska, Helen Tinkus, Marlena Adamska, and Melanie Grindle finished in 6:43.68 to hold of UCLA's top boat that crossed the finish in 6:46.30.
USC's second varsity eight weren't able to keep pace with the Bruins, finishing in 7:13.00, over nine seconds behind UCLA's time of 7:03.64.
USC's varsity four looked strong as they crossed more than three seconds ahead of UCLA with a time of 6:43.68. The Bruins finished in 6:46.30.
Also in action, USC's novice eight (7:51.82) fell to the Bruins by a significant margin as UCLA finished in 7:16.66. USC's 2nd varsity four boat finished second in a three boat race with a time of 8:19.67.
USC returns to action as they head to Lake Natoma, Calif. for the Pac-12 Championships May 13.
