    2012-13
    Melanie Grindle enters her fourth year with the Women of Troy as a starboard rower and will serve as one of the team's captains.

    2011-12
    As a junior, Grindle held the bow seat in the varsity eight boat for the entire season. She helped the Trojans to a second straight Jessop-Whittier Cup title at the San Diego Crew Classic, and dual wins against Michigan State, Notre Dame, Princeton, and Yale. Grindle was also in USC's top eight boat that finished second at the Pac-12 Championships--fifth place as a team--and in third place at the NCAA Championships; sixth place as a team. For her accomplishments in the classroom, Grindle was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team and received her second CRCA National Scholar-Athlete nod.

    2010-11
    As a sophomore, Grindle rowed from the bow seat of the varsity four boat and contributed to USC's third-place grand final finish at the NCAA Championships; fifth place in the team standings. She received academic honors as a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete and took home Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team honors. Grindle was part of the first-ever USC four to win the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup at the San Diego Crew Classic and later finished third at the Pac-10 Championships. She also helped her boat to wins over Clemson, Michigan State, and Virginia.

    2009-10
    As a freshman, Grindle rowed the bow seat with the novice eight crew. Her boat won its race against Notre Dame in the SoCal Challenge but was edged by UCLA in the annual dual and finished in seventh at the Pac-10 Championships.

    CLUB AND HIGH SCHOOL
    Grindle was a member of the U.S. Rowing Junior High Performance Team in 2010 and attended the U.S. Junior National Team Selection camp. She also trained in Germany with the U.S. Rowing High Performance Team.

    Melanie Jean Grindle was born in San Diego, Calif.... raised in Hanalei, Hawai'I where she graduated from Kula High School... parents are Tom and Jerri... mother Jerri played soccer at UC Davis and father Tom was a professional beach volleyball player... a three-year varsity letterwinner on the Kula HS girl's swim team where she won the K.I.F. Championship in the 50 freestyle three years in a row... won the 100 fly K.I.F. Championship in 2007-08... National Merit Scholar... majoring in business administration.
