USC women's rowing head coach Zenon Babraj was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year for the second time in his career
Magda Madziewicz enters her senior season in the USC program... in 2008 was an integral part of the varsity eight boat, coming out of the No. 4 seat to help the team finish tenth at the NCAA Championships...Madziewicz rowed out of the No. 5 seat to help USC secure a win over UCLA and to keep the team's undefeated streak over UCLA going...was a member of the varsity eight boat which finished second in the Jessop-Whittier Cup race at the 2008 San Diego Crew Classic...from the No. 3 seat in the varsity four "A" team at the Head of the American Regatta, Madziewicz helped the squad finish first in the collegiate quad 4 plus coxswain race...in 2007, she was named to the 2007 CRCA All-West Region First Team and the 2007 Pac-10 All-Conference Team while rowing from the No. 7 seat with the Varsity Eight in one of the most successful seasons in program history... her boat won the coveted Jessop-Whittier Cup at the 2007 San Diego Crew Classic (only the second time in USC history) and was also crowned the Pac-10 Champion after convincingly winning the Grand Final... contributed to bringing the Trojans their first Pac-10 Conference team championship and secured the second team bid to the NCAA Championships in school history... her Varsity Eight remained undefeated until the final race of the season... her boats took first place in both the pairs and fours events at the 2006 Head of the American Regatta... in 2006, rowed every race with the Varsity Eight boat from the No. 7 seat on the way to victories in all but one competition and an at-large berth in the NCAA Championships.
Madziewicz was a member of the WTW/Wloclawek rowing club for seven years (1999-2005)... led her team to a second and third place finish at the Polish Junior Championships in the coxless four and eights in 2001... gold medal winner of the 2002 Polish Junior Championships in pairs and third place in eights...a member of the 2003 Polish Junior Championship team in coxless fours... a member of the Junior Polish National Team in 2004, leading the team to a third place finish at the Junior World Championships in the eights... rowed with the Polish National Team to a bronze medal finish in the fours at the 2006 U23 World Championships in Belgium... won gold and silver medals in the pairs and fours at the 2006 Polish Senior Championships... won the 2007 Polish National Championship in the four and took silver in the pair with fellow Trojan, Anna Specjalska.
Magdalena Madziewicz was born in Wloclawek, Poland... a 2005 graduate of High School No. 4 in Wloclawek, Poland... has one brother, Marcin... chose to attend USC because she wanted a new and exciting experience in a different country while continuing to pursue her rowing career... majoring in Sociology, with a minor in Forensics and Criminology.
