Lauren Liedel enters her second year with the Trojans and will row from either the port or starboard side.
As a freshman, Liedel rowed out of the seven seat in the novice eight and helped the Trojans to a third-place finish in the petite final at the San Diego Crew Classic. Liedel also rowed with the novice eight in the UCLA dual and at the Pac-12 Championships. The top novice eight boat finished third at the Head of the American and second at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival.
CLUB AND HIGH SCHOOL
Liedel rowed for four years with the Thompson Boat Club under head coaches Kirk Shipley and Ryan Barone. She is a two-time national champion with gold medals in both the 8+ and 4+ at the 2009 USRowing Club National Championships. She also took home a gold medal in the 8+ at the Virginia State Rowing Championships in 2009. Liedel won silver medals in both 2008 and 2010 in the Virginia State Championships. She also rowed with the Occoquan Juniors Rowing Club for two years prior to joining TBC. At National Cathedral School, Liedel lettered in rowing for four years where she was an All-Met honorable mention as a senior in 2011. She was captain of the NCS varsity crew as a senior and also played volleyball for a year and served as a team captain.
Lauren Taylor Liedel was born on Sept. 7, 1993, in Chicago, Ill.... parents are Chris and Diann Liedel... nickname is Sunshine... father Chris played water polo at Bowling Green... uncle Jeff Liedel also played water polo for Bowling Green... enjoys fashion design, dance, scuba diving, and star-gazing in her spare time... double-majoring in archaeology and philosophy with a minor in classics.
