Pac-10 Champion - 1,500m
THIS YEAR: Anna Lopaciuch, the defending Pac-10 1,500m champion, gives the Women of Troy yet another title contender in their well-stocked 800m and 1,500m corps. She'll be counted on in 2000 to help fill the void left by the graduation of All-American Grazyna Penc.
1999: Was a finalist at the NCAAs and finished 10th in the 1,500m with a time of 4:32.21 ... Won the 1,500m at the Pac-10s with a time of 4:25.79 ... Won the 1,500m at the Mt. SAC Relays and qualified for the NCAAs with a season-best time of 4:19.38.
1998: Won the Pac-10 800m title in 2:05.71 and finished second to teammate and roommate Grazyna Penc in the 1,500m (4:22.17) ... Finished fifth in the 1,500m at the NCAA Championships with a time of 4:21.28 ... Automatically qualified for the NCAAs in the 1,500m with a PR of 4:16.49 at the Mt. SAC Relays, which ranks at No. 2 on USC’s all-time list (behind Penc).
CROSS COUNTRY: Finished 32nd at the 1999 Pac-10 Cross Country Championships ... Finished eighth at the 1998 Pac-10 Cross Country Championships in 17:43 as a junior ... Named the team’s MVP in 1998 ... Was 22nd at the 1998 NCAA West Regional in 17:48 ... Placed 33rd (18:42) at the 1997 Pac-10s as a sophomore ... Finished in the Top 5 in the three other meets she competed in, winning two of them.
PRIOR TO USC: Won 15 medals from Polish championships over the years ... Attended the Academy of Physical Education in Poland ... Finished 11th in the 1,500m at the 1997 European Championships (under 23) ... Finished 17th in the 1,500m at the 1995 World Junior Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL: Anna attended Lo Stalowa.
PERSONAL: Anna was born on Jan. 16, 1977 ... Earned 1998 Pac-10 Cross Country All-Academic first-team honors as a junior (4.00 GPA — international relations).
