    LOS ANGELES - Seven top high school women's lacrosse players enrolled in classes at USC on Monday (Aug. 22) to form the program's first freshman class since the sport was added as the school's 21st NCAA sport last year, Trojan head coach Lindsey Munday announced today (Aug. 23).

    Munday noted that several walk-on additions could be announced soon.

    This fall's incoming freshmen are: MF Emily Boone of St. Margaret's Episcopal School in Costa Mesa, Calif.; MF Justina Burns of St. Francis High School in Granite Bay, Calif.; MF Kaitlyn Couture of Coronado (Calif.) High School; MF Alex Foreman of Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish, Wash.; MF Olivia Gerton of Granada High School in Livermore, Calif.; MF Abigail Harris of Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C. ; and MF Kaila Sommi of Montgomery High School in Belle Mead, N.J.

    "I am extremely excited to announce the first class of the USC women's lacrosse program," said Munday. "These players are the foundation of this program and will help lead us into the future.

    "All seven of these young women have proven to be strong leaders, which is imperative as we build our program. These student-athletes are extremely excited to be part of a new program and have expressed their willingness to work hard to create the tradition of USC lacrosse.

    "Their enthusiasm and passion for USC is unparalleled and I am honored to welcome them into the Trojan Family."

    The Women of Troy will begin NCAA play in the spring of 2013.

    5-7 • Midfield
    Costa Mesa, Calif.

    National Teams: Played one year with the Orange County/Los Angeles National Team.

    High School: Boone played lacrosse and ran cross country at St. Margaret's Episcopal School...A two-time All-American...Team won the CIF Southern Section championship in 2008 and 2011...Named league co-MVP in 2011...Also won the 2010 Champions Cup Tournament with Club X-Team...An honor student , named St. Margaret's Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2011.

    Justina Burns
    5-4 • Midfield
    Granite Bay, Calif.

    High School: Burns played lacrosse at St. Francis High School...Team won the Western States Championship in 2009 as well as the CIF Sacramento-Joaquin Section championship in 2010 and 2011...Named league MVP in 2011...Played three seasons for club team Triple Threat, winning the prestigious Galaxy Tournament Championship in 2009.

    Kaitlyn Couture
    5-9 • Midfield
    Coronado, Calif.

    National Teams: Played one year with U-15 US Lacrosse Festival Team. Spent one year with the San Diego Pacific Region National Team.

    High School: Couture was a four-year varsity lacrosse and soccer player at Coronado High School...Led the team to San Diego CIF Finals three times and won the championship in 2011...Four-time Western League champions (2007-11)...A US Lacrosse and Academic All-American...Named San Diego Union-Tribune 2010-11 Lacrosse All-Academic team captain...2011 Coronado Eagle and Journal Female Athlete of the Year...Earned All-CIF honors in lacrosse and soccer...Won three CIF Championships and four league titles with Coronado soccer team...Played club lacrosse for West Coast Starz and Lax Dawgs.

    High School: Foreman was a four-year varsity lacrosse player and 2-year captain at Eastside Catholic School...Captained the 2010 Washington State Championship team...Earned First Team D-2 honors in 2009-10...First Team D-1 in 2011...Honorable Mention All-American in 2011...An honor student... Named Academic All-American in 2011...Played two years for Club X-Team.

    Livermore, Calif.

    National Teams: Played for Nor-Cal National Team in 2010.

    High School: Gerton played lacrosse for Granada High School Captaining the 2011 team...EBAL All- League selection in 2010-11...Granada High School MVP 2010...Academic All-American in 2010...Played for club teams Bulldog Lacrosse, Bearlax and Triple Threat...Four-year scholar athlete.

    Charlotte, NC

    National Teams: North Carolina national Team Representative 2009.

    High School: Harris played lacrosse for Myers Park High School...School's career points leader (334)...Charlotte Observer 2011 Player of the Year...Two-time First Team All-State selection...Earned All-Conference honors all four years of high school...Named to Charlotte Observer Top 50 All-Star Team (2008-10)...US Lacrosse Academic All-American (2010-11)...A four-year starter on the Queen City Stars Elite club team...Served as President of the Art Honor Society and was a four-year member of the National Honor Society.
