    LOS ANGELES - USC women's lacrosse freshman midfielder Amanda Johansen (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore HS) was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Rookie of the Week for a third time for the week of April 22-28. She previously won the award on February 25 and March 11. Johansen is the first Trojan to win the honor three times.

    In a pivotal game against conference foe San Diego State, Johansen scored four goals and recovered four ground balls in a 12-11 victory that sewed up a berth in the four-team MPSF tournament for the Women of Troy. Johansen also recorded an assist and picked up a pair of draw controls in the win.

    In her first season, Johansen has appeared in all 17 games and has controlled the draw a team high 95 times. She has scored 39 goals and dished out 15 assists for 54 points; second on the team. Statistically, Johansen ranks second on the team in points, goals, assists, ground balls, free-position goals, and shots on goal categories.

    USC finished its first regular season with an 8-9 overall record and was 5-3 in MPSF games. The Trojans will return to Eugene, Ore. on Thursday (May 2) to face top-seeded Denver (16-1, 8-0) in the opening round of the MPSF tournament. The Trojans and the Pioneers will draw at 4:30 p.m. PT.
