    The Women of Troy defeated the Blackbirds, 23-8, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to win their first-ever road game.

    As a senior, started 15 games for USC before she suffered a season-ending leg injury in a game against Stanford (April 19)… named to the MPSF All-Academic Team… had five ground balls, four caused turnovers, and three draw controls… was 1-for-2 on free-position shots… scored one goal against Northwestern (Feb. 7) in USC’s season-opener and dished out an assist against Denver (April 12).

    As a junior, Sommi served as one of three team captains and played in 17 of USC’s 18 games…  named to the MPSF All-Academic Team and the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll… produced two goals and an assist for three points… finished with five ground balls, four draw controls, and two caused turnovers… scored a goal, and had two ground balls and her two caused turnovers against Oregon (April 18).

    As a sophomore, Sommi appeared in all 18 of USC’s games with 10 starts in the program’s inaugural season… earned MPSF All-Academic Team honors… finished with five goals and two assists for seven points to go with 21 draw controls, five ground balls, and four caused turnovers… 21 draw controls ranked second on the team… scored two goals and had two ground balls against LIU Brooklyn (March 1)… won the draw a season-high four times to go with a ground ball and caused turnover against Presbyterian (Feb. 15)

    Sommi was four-year letterwinner and a senior captain at Montgomery High School… a three-time All-Conference selection (2009-2011)… chosen as the Team MVP and an Academic All-American as a senior… member of South New Jersey 2 at Women's Division National Tournament as a junior… played four years for Central Jersey Select lacrosse club and won the 2009 Lax Max Championship… four-year Principal’s honor roll at Montgomery… and a member of the National Honors Society… received the Presidential Education Award in 2011.

    Kaila Elizabeth Sommi was born on May 22, 1993, in Newtown, Pa…. parents are Lou and Becky Sommi… father Lou played men’s lacrosse at Rutgers… mother Becky played lacrosse at Lafayette College… has one brother, Tucker… coaches and referees youth lacrosse in her free time… graduated with a degree in business administration.
