    No. 4 USC Set For Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

    The USC women's golf team, ranked No. 4 in the latest 2007 Golf World poll, heads to the Northwest for its annual trip to the 2007 Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, Monday through Wednesday (Oct. 8-10) at the Sahalee C.C. in Sammamish, Wash.

    The 16-team field includes Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, California, Long Beach State, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, Pepperdine, New Mexico, Stanford, UNLV, USC, San Francisco, Washington and Washington State.

    Action begins with pairings at 9 a.m. on Monday and 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Wednesday's action begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. USC begins Monday with Penn State and Oregon State at 9:45 a.m.

    Last year, USC finished fifth with a three-day 922 (+58), which included a final-day 304, their low for the tournament.

    USC IN 2007-2008
    The Women of Troy, who have finished among the top five teams at the NCAA championships in three of the past five years, tied for sixth in the Mason Rudolph Championship to open the season.

    Most recently, the Trojans are coming off a second-place finish at the 2007 Margaret Branch NCAA Preview at the UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M. USC finished 15-under 861 (292-285-284), one stroke back of winner and top-ranked Duke (860, 292-285-284). USC's final two rounds were each low for the day.

    Senior Dewi Claire Schreefel, a two-time All-American, won her first tournament since her 2006 NCAA Championships individual title when she won the 2007 Margaret Branch NCAA Fall Preview on Sept. 26 at the University of New Mexico G.C. Her three-round effort of 204 (68-69-67) was one off the USC individual 54-hole record while her 15-under par is a USC record. She also strung three consecutive sub-70 rounds together for the first time as a Trojan, punctuating her fine play with an eagle on the tournament's final hole. For her efforts, she was named Golfweek and Golf World Player of the Week. In her first tournament of the season, at the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship, she tied for 20th.

     

     

    Paola Moreno
    Senior Paola Moreno, the 2007 NCAA Championships runner-up and a 2007 All-American first teamer, tied for 52nd in USC's opening event and tied for 33rd in the Fall Preview. She led USC in stroke average as a junior last year (73.18).

    Belen Mozo
    Sophomore Belen Mozo, a 2007 All-American honorable mention pick, was USC's top finisher at the Mason Rudolph, tying for 10th with a 216 (74-69-73). She then tied for 11th at the Fall Preview with a 4-under 215 (75-71-69), her final round 4-under effort highlighted by a hole-in-one on the 137-yard, par 3 17th hole.

    Joanne Lee and Lizette Salas
    Freshmen Lizette Salas and Joanne Lee have played in both of USC's first two tournaments. Salas tied for 22nd at Mason Rudolph and 26th at the Fall Preview, while Lee posted finishes of 36th and 35th, respectively, in the events
