    Chan Leads No. 2 USC In Season-Opening Round At ANNIKA Interollegiate

    Senior Tiffany Chan fired a 5-under 67 while Victoria Morgan carded a career-best 3-under 69 to lead the No. 2 USC women’s golf team to a tie for third after the first round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate at the Reunion (Fla.) G.C. on Sunday to kick off the 2016-17 season.

    The Trojans, who won this event last year with a school-record 36-under performance, combined for a 9-under 279 first round, five back of first-place South Carolina, one back of Georgia and tied with UCLA. Nine of the 12 entered teams were under par and all but one was even or better.

    Chan, who has had a busy summer representing Hong Kong at both the Summer Olympics and the World Team Amateur Championships not to mention other amateur play stateside, put together a seven-birdie season-opener, including a 3-under front 9 and a 2-under back. She is tied for fourth, three off the lead.

    Morgan turned in the lowest round of her Trojan career with a clean performance that featured birdies on 1, 9 and 15 and pars the rest of the way.

    Senior Gabriella Then is tied for 14th at 2-under 70 with four birdies against two bogeys. Senior Karen Chung and sophomore Robynn Ree are tied for 35th at 1-over 73. See was 1-under unto a double bogey on 18.
