The USC women's golf team, which returns all five starters from its dominant 2013 NCAA championship team, was a nearly unanimous No. 1 selection atop the Golf World/NGCA Division I College Women's Preseason Coaches' Poll released Wednesday (Aug. 28).

The Trojans, under 18th-year head coach Andrea Gaston, received 26 of 29 first-place votes to earn the top spot. Alabama was voted second with Duke third. UCLA was tabbed fourth and got one first place vote while Arizona State was selected fifth and received two first place nods.

Gaston's starting lineup features returning All-Americans in senior Sophia Popov, junior Doris Chen and sophomores Annie Park (the NCAA and Pac-12 Player and Freshman of the Year) and Kyung Kim as well as All-Pac-12 senior Rachel Morris. In addition, the Trojans have added two of the top junior players in the country in Gabriella Then and Karen Chung to compliment returning sophomore reserves Kim Santiago, Ellie Chai and Victoria Morgan.

USC won a school-record seven events last season, including the Pac-12, NCAA West Regional and NCAA Championship.
