June 18, 2013
USC's Annie Park and Doris Chen remained tied for first while teammate Kyung Kim tied for fourth and incoming freshman Karen Chung tied for 14th, the quartet of Trojans easily finishing in the top 64 after two rounds of stroke play and advancing to the match play portion of the 37th U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship at the Jimmie Austin OU G.C. in Norman, Okla., on Tuesday (June 18).
Park and Chen each fired their second consecutive 68s and finished atop the 156-golfer leader board at 8-under 136, five better than third-place Casey Danielson.
Kim, the defending champion of the event, finished at 2-under 142 (72-70) while advanced with a 2-over 146 (71-75).
Kim, Park and Chen all helped USC run away with the 2013 NCAA team title in May at a record 19-under par. Park earned WGCA Golfer of the Year and joined Kim (and teammate Sophia Popov) as All-American first teamers.
The 64-golfer match play event begins Wednesday. Park was a semifinalist in 2011 and a quarterfinalist in 2012.
